ON X IN X AT

Today I am going to explain when and how we must use the expressions on, in and at.

Tempo:

In- we must use "in" when we want to talk about: months, seasons, years, decades, centuries, millennia

Ex: I was born in April
Ex: I like to drink water in summer
Ex: I won a battle in 2011
Ex: Brazil was a slave country in 19th century

On- We can use when we want to talk about days

Ex: I will travel on Monday
Ex: We love to go out on Friday

At: Hours or minutes

Ex: I was born at midnight

Lugares:

At: We use at when we want to talk about specifics places

Ex: I am at the main mall
I am at the grocery store

In: We use when the place has limits, like: country, cities and so on.

Ex: I live in Brazil
I want to live in New York

On: When we talk about surfaces

The spider is on the wall
Did you see the notice on the door

Exceptions:

AT home
AT school
In the newspaper
In bed
On the bus

However relax, because you will understand those exceptions with train and practice!
